I posted this on Facebook the day we did this session.. here’s a little background on this wonderful Mom:
“This morning I got to shoot a Mommy & Me session that was a little extra special to me personally.
We have been trying to schedule something for Callie and the boys since last December, but each time- something came up. Something no mother should have to deal with.
Callie’s radiation began on the weekend our last Mommy & Me session was supposed to take place.
No one understands what having twins is like. No one except other twin mommas. So when a childhood friend becomes pregnant with twins, due on the exact same day, it becomes an instant connection. To my greatest joy, she found out it was two boys. I couldn’t pack up all of our outfits for her fast enough. Today, when she and the boys showed up, they were dressed in an outfit I had given her. Something about seeing her boys wearing it exactly one year later was so special.
When Callie told me of her diagnosis in December, my heart sank. She is me. I am her. We’re the exact same age, and have twins exactly one year apart (not to mention she has a four year old too!). Yet here she is, dealing with something no one should ever have to.
The scars on her neck are physical evidence of her strength. But the amount of inner strength she has had to display the last year is something I cannot comprehend. I struggle daily raising twins, yet here she is, juggling everything I am- plus a cancer diagnosis. It just doesn’t seem fair.
I hope she knows what an inspiration she is to everyone out there, but especially to me. From one twin momma to another.. your strength is something else.”
